Understanding How To Setup, Use & Read Google Analytics

google-analytics-1

Google Analytics tracks the following kinds of data about how visitors interact with your site content:

  • The pages on which they enter and exit your site.
  • How often and how long they view individual pages.
  • The extent to which they search your site for specific content.
  • The extent to which they interact with things like slide shows or embedded videos.
  • How frequently they click AdSense ads, and the revenue you see from those clicks.

Google Analytics is a free tool that anyone can utilize.

Google Analytics works with a WordPress website and NON-Wordpress, such as HTML.

Pay Per View – The New Big Traffic Source

Marketers all over the world are making thousands of dollars a day using this new traffic source: Pay per view. What is pay per view, how does it work and can you use it to promote your product? Read on to find out.

What is Pay Per View?

Pay Per View allows you to target users and popup advertisements based on the websites they’re visiting. Unlike the annoying popups you see on most websites, PPV allows you to target only potential customers who would be interested in what you’re offering.

If you’re offering dating tips for example, your PPV ad will only pop up when they go to a website like match.com, for example.

You’re able to popup PPV ads because the user agreed to view two ads per day in exchange for downloading an otherwise paid software for free.

For example, instead of paying for a well designed game, they agree to see two ads a day. It’s completely consensual and legal. The software can be easily removed by uninstalling at any time.

How Much Traffic Can You Get With PPV?

Surprisingly – A Lot.

Five to six figure a month businesses have been built with this traffic source alone. Many of the “free game” downloads online are for PPV software.

There are millions of users in the United States and all over the world who you can offer your services to. This is not a traffic source to be overlooked.

What really makes PPV great is how cheap the traffic is. You’re generally paying two pennies or less per view.

Who Should Use PPV?

PPV is great for targeting medium to large sized markets. It’s great for rolling out an already successful campaign.

It’s not so great for super-specific niches or testing out new markets.

For example, if you have an offer that appeals to single men in general, then you may be able to make a killing with PPV. If you have an offer that appeals to single moms who want to learn basket weaving, then you probably won’t get much traffic with PPV at all.

How to Get Started

There are three primary networks that offer PPV traffic: TrafficVance, Zango and Media Traffic.

TrafficVance offers the highest converting traffic. The network is harder to get into and requires a significant deposit and a recommendation by someone already in that network. That said, most marketers find that getting into TV is worth the effort.

Generally most marketers test campaigns on TrafficVance first, then export them to MediaTraffic or Zango.

MediaTraffic is the second highest converting. Test MediaTraffic next, the Zango. Zango actually offers the highest volume of traffic, but the traffic generally doesn’t convert as well as the other two networks.

How to Target Your Ads

You target your ads by URL or keywords. Generally, URLs will get a lot more traffic than keywords.

Pick out URLs that you think will get a lot of traffic from your target demographic. If you’re selling books online, you might pick out Amazon.com, borders.com and so on.

Then every time someone on your PPV network goes to borders.com, your ad will pop up offering your service.

Can you think of creative ways you might use this to market your product?

PPV is a killer way to get a ton of traffic for not a lot of money. If you have a broad demographic and you get PPV to convert profitably, it can easily add thousands to your bottom line.

Little-Known AdWords Tactics: How to Pay $0.10 When Others are Paying $1.00

Imagine paying $0.10 cents per click, while others are paying $1.00. How easy would it be to dominate your market when you’re playing with those kinds of numbers? In this article you’ll learn a bunch of little-known tactics that will help you increase your ROI and reduce your CPC.

What Nobody Told You About Quality Score

AdWords has changed and Quality Score is the name of the game. If you have a QS below 8, forget making the big bucks in AdWords.

Instead of optimizing for conversion, optimize for Quality Score. Am I saying you should blow your sales page for the sake of Quality Score? In a way, yes, I am. You should absolutely still pay attention to your conversion rate – But that comes second to your quality score.

The difference between a “good” quality score and a “great” quality score is phenomenal. You could be paying $1 per click for 5th place with a “good” quality score – And just $0.10 cents per click with #2 position with a great quality score. QS affects both your ad placement and your CPC. The difference is huge.

Most single-page salesletters and squeeze pages just do not get high QSes. They’re allowed by Google, but they’re not appreciated by Google.

Let’s take the example of a website with an info product on how to buy a car cheaply.

Example 1: You have a one-page salesletter. You’re paying $0.50 cents per click, getting 100 clicks a day. You make one sale per day. You’re selling the eBook for $40. You’re losing money.

Example 2: You have an informational website tailor-fitted to the keyword. When they click on your ad, they come to a 2,000 word article answering all their questions. You’re paying $0.05 per click, getting 500 clicks a day because of your higher QS and placement. Your conversion rate is half of the one page salesletter’s. You’re making 2.5 sales a day for a $100 profit, while only spending $25 a day on ad cost.

I’m not overstating how big of a deal Quality Score is. This is literally how big of a difference it can make. Pay attention to your quality score, even if it’s at the cost of your conversion rate.

Stealing Keywords from Competitors

Most people do their keyword research all wrong. In fact, most people are bidding on the same keywords that everyone else is.

What if I told you that you could easily steal just the time 1-3 keywords from each of your competitors?

Instead of building your keyword list from scratch, where you’ll have to spend thousands figuring out what works and what doesn’t, you can take your top 10 competitors and just steal their top keywords.

You can do this by using a variety of keyword spying tools online, including KeywordSpy and Compete.com.

Add your competitors’ top keywords to your keyword list and you’ll cut your keyword research time and costs dramatically.

Move Your Product to Other Countries

Most people under look the money making potential in doing business in other countries. Even other English speaking countries like the United Kingdom or Australia have far less competition than the United States.

You could make even more money by converting your products into other languages. Why? Because very few people are willing to go through the effort to do it. It’ll cost you a few hundred dollars to hire a contractor, but the payoff will be well worth it.

These are just a few AdWords tips that could make you a lot of money. Almost everyone knows AdWords basics these days. These “beyond the basics” tips are where the money is made. Apply even just one properly and watch your profits soar.

How to Get Your Videos Watched by Hundreds of Web Visitors

What if I told you that you could create a 5 minute video in less than an hour of work with no video editing skills and have it seen by hundreds or thousands of visitors who’re interested in learning more about your product? It’s not only possible – It’s easy. Here’s how.

Creating a Video is Easier Than You Think

When most people think of creating a video, they usually think of complex camera equipment and an editing process that takes years of study to understand.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Hiring a student videographer to both film and edit should cost you no more than $400. The quality will be great.

Don’t want to pay for your video at all? There are plenty of services that you could use to create your video for little to no cost. Most of these are text or image slideshows that you can record and just add your voice on top.

Instead of going through a costly recording process, you can deliver the content through image, text and your voice. The content, not the delivery, is what your visitors really actually care about.

Creating your entire video could take less than a week if you’re shooting a short informational video, or as little as an hour if you’re doing voice over a slideshow.

Distributing Your Video to Hundreds of Visitors

Imagine now taking your video and having that distributed to hundreds of visitors – With just one click of the mouse. It is as easy as it sounds.

There are two ways to do this. You could do it automatically for free, or you could have people do it for you for a fee.

To do it for free, use TubeMogul to distribute the videos. You need to create an account on each of the services you want to upload your video to. The software will then automatically upload your video to each of the sites at a click of a button.

Alternatively, you could pay a monthly rate of about $70 to have people distribute the videos for you. The service is called TrafficGeyser. They’ll automatically submit to over 40 sites for you.

Why Distribute Your Videos?

There are two reasons to distribute your videos to a multitude of websites.

The first is raw traffic. Sure, big sites like YouTube do get the most traffic. That said, other smaller video sites have a loyal following as well.

The second reason is backlinks. If you want to rank well in search engines, backlinks are crucial. For every video you release, you could easily get 30 to 100 backlinks by submitting to a multitude of video websites.

The setup takes a bit of time, but once you’re setup the distribution process will literally take less than 15 minutes. You could very realistically do one video a day, getting 50 links a day pointed back to your website – That’s 1,500 backlinks to your website every month!

The Process

Just to reiterate how simple and powerful this process is: Creating a video for online distribution can take as little as an hour. Setting up distribution could take a couple hours, but once you’re setup it should take you less than 15 minutes per video to distribute it.

Your video will be seen by hundreds if not thousands of visitors. You’ll get a ton of backlinks. In short, you’ll skyrocket both your traffic and your search engine rankings!

How to Get Traffic from Online Radio Interviews, Online Podcasts and Live Radio!

Want to get a ton of traffic – While becoming an established expert in your field? Getting on interviews in offline and online radio and podcasts is an incredibly powerful way to do that. Does that sound difficult? It’s not. Read on to learn how.

How Much Traffic Can You Get by Doing Interviews?

There are two benefits to getting on podcast and radio interviews.

First of all, you get a ton of traffic coming in from the interview itself. The traffic will be targeted and ready to buy, since you’ve already demonstrated yourself as an expert on the interview.

The second benefit is that you become more and more known in your industry as an expert. You’ll get more joint venture offers, more people one-way linking to your website and more people referring friends to you as a resource.

The amount of traffic you could get really depends on how many listeners your interviewer has. It’s entirely possible for you to get over 10,000 to 100,000 visitors from one interview if you’re interviewed by someone well known.

It’s also possible that you’ll have to do a bunch of smaller interviews that only net you a few hundred visitors, especially when you’re just starting out.

What Are Podcast and Radio Owners Looking For?

In order to get on interviews, you need to fulfill the criteria that all interviewers want. There are two primary factors:

1)      Does this person sound good on radio? Do they have experience being on the air?

2)      Can this person offer a unique solution with a high perceived value to my listeners?

If you don’t have radio interview experience, try to get on some smaller stations to get started.

To address #2, answer this question: “What’s the number one problem this industry faces, and how can I give a solution to this problem in less than 60 seconds?”

Then write your answer to this question in an enticing title. Come up with at least five potential titles before you pick a “headliner.”

How to Get on Radio Shows

Here are two great ways to get on radio and podcast interviews:

The first requires that you’re somewhat well known in your industry already. Contact the owner of the radio show by phone and offer to do an interview.

Most radio show hosts need interviewees as much as interviewees want to be interviewed. The super-high trafficked shows generally have no trouble getting guests, but most shows have to do a bit of work to get experts on their show.

When you contact the show owner, make sure you have your pitch straight. You should have a compelling topic or a list of compelling topics and you should sound like you know what you’re talking about on the air.

The second way to get on shows is to register yourself in the Radio Television Interview Report (RTIR.) This is where show interviewers go to look for guests. It’s a costly investment, but many guests find that it’s worth the investment.

Is This Marketing Avenue for You?

I’ll be honest: Doing radio shows takes work. I’d recommend taking this avenue only if you’re building your business for long term success.

If you’re building an affiliate marketing website where you’re looking to just get a bunch of quick traffic and make a little bit of money, then this method probably isn’t worth the time investment.

On the other hand, if you want to establish yourself as an expert in your field, then this is a great way to build both traffic and credibility.

Get experience with smaller shows first. Make sure you have a killer pitch. Contact show owners or wait to be contacted by listing yourself. Follow these steps and you’ll be well on your way to becoming a regular on shows!

How to Get Small and Big Traffic with Article Marketing

For a beginning marketer, article marketing is a great way to make your first few hundred dollars. It’s easy and it’s fast to get started. Who should you article marketing, how do you get started and how do you achieve an exceptional level of success with article marketing? Read on to find out.

Who Should Use Article Marketing?

Article marketing is great for beginning marketers who’ve never gotten more than 5,000 visitors to their website. It’s a simple and fast way to get traffic to a website without having to invest money before you’ve made money.

If you’re already making money from paid traffic sources, you may not want to use article marketing. The time investment probably won’t be worth it.

What Can You Expect?

For every article you submit, you can expect 50 to 500 visitors over the course of a couple months if you only submit to article directories.

If you make one sale out of every 100 visitors, your sale is worth $40, you get 200 visitors per article and each article plus submission takes you an hour, then you’re getting paid $80 an hour.

Granted, you won’t get the entire $80 right away, it’ll take some time. Article traffic tends to trickle in rather than come all at once.

If you go beyond submitting to just article directories, you could get a lot more traffic than that.

The Basic “How To” of Article Marketing

The first step is keyword research. Go on the Google Keyword Tool and find a list of keywords with at least 1,000 to 10,000 searches. Next go into Google and type your keywords in, in quotes. For example, “How to tile my roof” in quotes. Ideally there should be less than 10,000 competing results.

Compile a list of 10 keywords that match these criteria. You’re looking for keywords with moderate search volume and not too much competition.

Put this keyword in your title tag and use it sporadically throughout your article. You’re targeting the top 5 rankings for the specific keyword you’re targeting, plus any other keyword you happen to rank for.

Submitting Your Articles

Once you’ve written your keyword targeted article, the next step is to submit and distribute your articles.

The first step is to submit your articles to article directories like EzineArticles. This will get you a small amount of traffic. Perhaps enough to be worth the effort, but you won’t build massive traffic just by submitting to directories.

The second step is to either send your articles to other websites in your industry, or offer to write original content for higher traffic websites.

Instead of just putting together an article and sending it to a directory, the big traffic is made when you get your articles picked up by many websites in your industry. You get relevant one-way links and targeted traffic.

Article Marketing in Short

In short, article marketing is great for someone looking to make their first few hundred dollars online. It’s also great for building a presence in your field, if you’re willing to go the extra mile.

Select your keywords carefully. Choose keywords with moderate search volume and low competition. Submit your articles to article directories for a moderate amount of traffic. Contact other website owners to have your articles posted if you want the big traffic.

Getting Affiliates to Promote Your Product is Easier Than You Think

Want to have an army of marketers marketing your product, so you’re getting paid doing almost zero work? It does take a little bit of work, but the rewards are well worth it. In this article we’ll talk about laying the groundwork for getting affiliates, how to attract affiliates and how to actively seek out and recruit super affiliates.

The Groundwork: Your Conversion Rate and Payouts

Your conversion rate and your payouts are two of the most important numbers that any affiliate marketer will look at.

What’s a good payout? If you’re selling a physical product or a workshop, 10% to 20% is standard. If you’re selling an information product, 50% to 90% is standard.

If you look through a bunch of affiliate programs, you’ll find that most infomarketers who are attracting a lot of affiliates are offering 60% or above commission. Even on Clickbank, where 75% commission is the limit, top marketers are often paypaling their top affiliates another 15% bonus on top.

Why is that? Would you rather make $4 on 2,000 orders a month, or keep the entire 100% and have no affiliates? The high commissions will attract more affiliates and super affiliates. Even if you only make a few dollars per order, it can be made up in sheer volume.

That’s how affiliate marketing works: You give away a cut, but you make it back in volume.

Clickbank, Commission Junction, CPA Networks

Affiliate networks are a powerful tool for getting more affiliates.

Clickbank is great for infomarketers. If you can get to the top of a category in Clickbank, you’ll make well over 500 sales on autopilot just from affiliate marketers.

The trick with Clickbank is attracting your first few affiliates and getting your Gravity rating above 10. After that, let your conversion rate and product attract the affiliates for you.

Commission Junction is great for physical products with lower payouts. It’s quite tricky to get on CJ. Usually they only accept major players who’ve been in the market for some time.

CPA networks are great if you can pay per action instead of per sale. If you can pay $3 for an email address or $6 for a form submit because you know your conversion rate, you can really make a killing put putting your product on those networks.

Finding Affiliates

One method of getting affiliates is to have a good product and conversion rate and attract affiliates by being on networks and offering a high payout. The second method is to actively seek out affiliates and super affiliates.

First, build a name for yourself in your own industry. Then start contacting people in your industry and offering to partner with them. Google your top keywords and contact the owners of the first 3 websites and see if they’d like to try promoting your product. Contact well known names and talk about JVing.

Also, meet people in person. Go to both marketing conventions and conferences in your industry. If you’re in health for example, go to both marketing conventions and health conventions.

At marketing conventions, you’ll meet “super affiliates” whose sole business is promoting other people’s products. At industry conventions, you’ll meet people in your industry with already high trafficked lists and websites. Build a relationship with these people, do something for their business, then ask them to try out promoting your products for a commission.

Even if you can’t make it to national conferences, go to your own local get togethers. Almost everywhere in the world are business and marketing mastermind groups and meetups. Almost everywhere in the world are smaller interest meetups.

In short, pay your affiliates extremely well, build a killer salespage, list your product on affiliate networks, become known in your industry and contact other known individuals, seek out affiliates and super affiliates at conferences and build your affiliate base.

Facebook Ads: The Most Targeted Medium on the Internet

Most marketers know that having well targeted ads means profits – And that’s what makes Facebook Ads so incredible. Facebook ads is a relatively new medium that most old school marketers have yet to tap, yet has incredible earning potential. Read on to learn the benefits of working with Facebook ads and how to make it work for you.

Target by Interest or Demographic

Want to target Christians in their late 30’s? You can do that.

Want to target high earning business-oriented individuals in their 40’s? You can do that.

Want to target people interested in Yoga? In computer programming? In entrepreneurship? In health?

You can specifically target all of those markets.

Facebook collects data on all of their users. You can then use Facebook’s data to target what kind of ads to serve to whom.

For Local Businesses

If you have a local business – A restaurant or a business consulting practice, for example – You could easily target just people in your area who have a particular interest.

Facebook ads is a great resource for both local marketers and national marketers.

How to Create an Effective Facebook Ad

There are two things that are critical:

1)      Right targeting

2)      An attention grabbing picture

Unlike writing copy in other mediums, the text is less important. It still matters, but the image is your real grabber.

Your image should jump out and stand out. I’d recommend creating 3 separate images, letting it sit for a few hours and then finally choosing one.

Targeting the right audience is crucial. Start out by targeting very, very specific groups of people. You’ll get less traffic, but you should make sure that your offer actually converts to this specific group before you expand out to a broader user base.

What’s a Successful Campaign?

In Google Adwords, you could expect to get 10% CTR on a really good ad. That’ll pretty much never happen with Facebook Ads.

Unlike permission marketing where they’re asking for your product, this is interruption marketing where you’re popping out on the side of the page saying “by the way, are you interested in this?”

A good CTR on Facebook ads is 0.1%. Generally you can expect to pay anywhere between $0.30 to $0.70 cents per click. If your CTR is high, you might want to switch to a CPM model where you pay per view instead of per click. You could cut your ad costs by as much as 50% by switching to CPM, but only if you have a killer ad.

After a period of time, if you have a successful campaign, you’ll notice your CTR go down. This is because your ad is being shown to the same people over and over again.

Most marketers find that if they switch up the ads and pictures, the CTR will go back up. After a period of time, you might have to pause your ad for a couple of weeks before reposting to have your CTR go back up.

Making Money with Facebook

The secret to making money with Facebook is to carefully target just the people who are most likely to buy your product, then creating a killer ad that grabs attention and jumps off the screen.

If you have these two elements, you’ll very likely make a killing on Facebook.

Banner Ads: Where the Big Money is Made

Banner ads are dead, right? Wrong! In fact, banner ads are where the “big players” graduate to once they’ve maxed out the amount they can spend on CPC. Why do most people think banner ads are dead, how do banner ads really work and how can you make insane amounts of money with banner ads? Read on to find out.

The Myth of Banner Ads Being Dead

The myth of banner ads being dead for direct response online marketers came from the fact that most business owners have tried banner ads at some point … Only to be sorely disappointed by the results.

Business owners have this experience because they don’t know what they’re doing. But you will, by the time you’re done reading this.

A word of caution: Banner ads aren’t easy to master. They’re not for beginners. They’re not for testing offers; they’re for rolling out successful offers.

If you have a new product and you don’t know if it’ll convert, test your traffic on AdWords. If you have an offer that’s converting like a monster, then roll out with banner ads.

Why Banner Ads Are Profitable

Banner ads are profitable for one reason: The sheer amount of traffic available is insane.

You could place your ad on just about any site in the world, some of which get hundreds of thousands to millions of visitors a day.

If you have an offer that converts like mad for single men in their 30’s and 40’s, then a banner ad on websites like AskMen or Maxim will easily take your business to the next level.

If you have an offer that converts very well for single moms, there are a ton of websites catered to that demographic as well.

How to Test Small With Banner Ads

There are three steps to testing with banner ads.

The first step is to test the offer and the conversion rate itself. It’s best to test this with Google AdWords rather than banner ads. The traffic is cheaper, more targeted and converts better. If you can’t get AdWords to convert, chances are you won’t get banner ads to convert.

The second step is to buy banners in small portions. One easy way to do this is to use Image Ads through Google’s Content Network. Place your banners on sites that have AdSense that support image ads and test out your CTR and conversion rate.

Finally, buy your first few banner ads. Make sure to tell them to limit the impressions to two per visitor per 48 hours. Make sure you’re only targeting in the United States to start, during peak business hours. Make sure you can stop serving ads if you find it doesn’t convert.

Most banner ad buys require that you pay $5,000 to $20,000 to buy. Most people get intimidated by these numbers. In reality, it really only costs you $300 to $800 to test a banner ad campaign.

If you have a 24 hour stop order, meaning you can stop your ad run in 24 hours, the risk you’re actually taking is very small. For example, if you do a $10,000 media buy, that’s $333 of banner ads per day. If you run it for one day and find that it’s not converting, just put in the stop order and you’ll have spent only about $500.

Basically, if it doesn’t work out you’re only out a few hundred dollars. If it does work out, you’ve secured $10,000 in media already. The risk is actually quite small while the payout is actually quite big.

Can You Make Money With Banner Ads?

The short answer is yes. If you have a profitable campaign and you’re ready to roll out to a more general demographic, banner ads can be a way to really make a killing. Test small, make sure you have a really great campaign before you roll out, then test your media buys with a tight leash on your stop orders and you’ll be well on your way to a safe test with incredible profit potential.

Four Effective Ways to Get Free Traffic

Want to get massive traffic without paying exorbitant amounts of money in advertising? Then read on to learn how to build a high traffic website without spending a dime in ad money.

The #1 Secret to Free Traffic: Consistency

Many beginner marketers want to build a successful business overnight. It just doesn’t happen that way.

The most important thing to getting a ton of free traffic is consistency. You won’t get a ton of readers by publishing one good article. You won’t’ get a ton of watchers by releasing just one video. You won’t rank highly in search engines overnight.

The key to consistently getting high traffic is putting out great content on a regular basis. This builds trust in both your customer’s eyes and the search engine’s eyes.

The Most Instant Method: Article Marketing

Article marketing has been around for about five years now. The technique is simple: Write an informative article and publish it to an online article directory like EzineArticles.

The keywords you target are important. Try to pick out keywords with a small to medium amount of search volume with low competing keywords.

A Great Way to Build a Name: Video Marketing

Another great traffic source is video marketing. You can easily create a content video and distribute it to hundreds of websites – In just minutes.

Again, consistency is the name of the game. You probably won’t be able to get a flood of traffic by submitting one video. But if you establish yourself as a well known expert through video marketing, you can easily build yourself a name, a ton of traffic and a ton of backlinks.

Search Engine Optimization

SEO is perhaps the most powerful method to get free traffic. It’s also the method that takes the most time, is the most competitive and has a certain amount of randomness factor to it.

There are several key factors that play into getting your website highly ranked. Having great unique content is one. Having a ton of backlinks to your website is another. Finally, selecting the right niche, subniche and keywords can make a world of difference.

If you have unique and innovative content, other people linking to your website consistently and you choose a market with not too much competition but enough traffic to make it worth your while, then you have a good chance of having your website make it to the top of the search engines.

Social Media

Social media like Twitter, Facebook, Digg, StumbleUpon and many others are often overlooked by internet marketers.

Getting your website to the top of Digg can get you so much traffic that it could get your hosting shut down – Even if you’re running a dedicated server.

There are two types of social media: Media that will generate traffic, such as Digg or StumbleUpon, or media that will help you get people who are already interested to come back – Such as Facebook fan pages or Twitter accounts.

The key idea behind social media is becoming a part of the conversation of your target market. If you’re in the yoga health community for example, your goal is to become well known enough in that community that your name means something. All these social media outlets are tools to help you do that.

How Successful Can You Be With Free Traffic?

There are hundreds of examples on the internet of people building six or even seven figure businesses online all without paying a dime in advertising.

The secret is producing consistent high quality content and marketing it well. If you apply even just one of the techniques above properly, you’ll get yourself a very nice stream of traffic.
